When it comes to applying the driver, the method is obvious and the steps quite easy: simply extract the compressed package (if necessary), run the setup, and follow the given instructions for a complete installation. However, this wireless technology is recommended to be used for transferring data between compatible devices within short ranges.Ī newer version can include support for later technology standards or add compatibility with other Bluetooth chipsets however, bear in mind that updating the driver might not improve your system at all. Installing the system’s Bluetooth driver will allow it to connect with various devices such as mobile phones, tablets, headsets, gaming controllers, and more. Close the wizard and perform a system reboot to allow changes to take effect. Read EULA (End User Licence Agreement) and agree to proceed with the installation process. Allow Windows to run the file (if necessary). Locate and double-click on the available setup file. Unzip the file and enter the newly-created directory. Save the downloadable package on an accessible location (such as your desktop). To install this package please do the following: Even though other OSes might be compatible as well, we do not recommend applying this release on platforms other than the ones specified. If it has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing) may fix problems, add new functions, or expand existing ones.

I searches, but the info found was relevant to older distributions and upon attempting to apply those fixes, I mostly got that whatever code is needed is no longer downloadable. lshw -C network yields the following result:Īlso, there is no WiFi information in settings menu just as if I do not have a card.

Unfortunately, the wireless isnt working. I just configured it as a dual-boot machine. The computer is a Dell XPS 8700 desktop with a Windows 10 OS and intel Core i5 processor, about four years old. I'd rather fix whatever is wrong with it. What else can I do? I'd rather not try to reinstall Ubuntu, as I had a install crash on another system and this is my working machine. I know that Ubuntu knows about the adapter as after query (do not remember off the top of my head how exactly) I got the following: I then erased the image, placed a fresh one and tried again, but the result was the same. Unfortunately, it tells me that it is applying changes, but the progress bar is not moving, it is stuck at about 10%. The Windows side works perfectly, the Ubuntu thinks that I have only Ethernet adapter. My school requires that I have a dual boot Ubuntu/Windows machine.Īfter installation, I was surprised to see that I have no wireless network capabilities.
